Purchasing Assistant

As a Purchasing Assistant, you’ll be responsible for procuring goods, services, and equipment to support daily operations, ensuring materials are sourced cost-effectively while maintaining quality and delivery expectations. You'll play a key role in supplier communication, contract management, and market research, while working closely with internal stakeholders to meet operational demands.

The salary for the  Purchasing Assistant is £27,475, with a benefits package that includes ongoing development, a supportive team culture and the opportunity to make a tangible impact on purchasing efficiency and supplier performance. Working hours are 8.30 - 5.30 with a 4.30 finish on Fridays. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Source goods, services, and equipment required for daily operations

  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and follow up on deliveries

  • Research new products, suppliers, and market trends

  • Support contract negotiations and maintain accurate records

  • Present cost analyses to the Procurement Manager and departmental heads

  • Contribute to strategic procurement decisions and cost-saving initiatives

  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies and procedures

  • Stay current with industry developments and trends

Key Requirements

  • Previous experience in a purchasing or procurement support role

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing production and processes (desirable)

  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with vendors and colleagues

  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical thinking skills

  • Flexible, self-motivated, and adaptable to changing needs

  • Commercial awareness and interest in emerging trends in procurement
