Your role as a Growing Assistant will need a strong attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and you will play a crucial role in the propagation, care, and distribution of the plant inventory.
Key Responsibilities as the Growing Assistant will include::
- Propagating plants through techniques such as taking cuttings and seed sowing.
- Tending to plants by watering, fertilizing, pruning, and monitoring for pests and diseases.
- Assisting in the packing and preparation of plants for transportation to customers, ensuring they are properly labeled and packaged for safe delivery.
- Conducting regular checks of stock levels and communicating with management to replenish inventory as needed.
- Operating computer systems to read barcodes, track inventory, and update records accurately.
- Collaborating with team members to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Following health and safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
Previous experience working with plants in a nursery or garden centre setting would be really useful but not essential as full training will be given. We'd just need you to have:
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Basic computer literacy, including the ability to use software for inventory management and barcode scanning.
