We are recruiting an experienced Accounts Manager to take ownership of day-to-day financial operations for this long-established company in the agricultural sector. Using the Opera software system, you'll be ensuring accurate processing of payments, payroll and financial reporting while supporting managers, subcontractors and external partners. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented finance professional who thrives in a busy environment and enjoys taking ownership of financial processes.
In your role as Accounts Manager, the start of each month is extremely busy and fast-paced, with high volumes of payments and reporting to complete within tight time deadlines. You’ll need to stay calm under pressure and be organised and meticulous in your approach. The end of the month is a quieter time and so flexible and remote/hybrid working is available.
Key Responsibilities as the Accounts Manager will include:
- Manage subcontractor payments, supplier invoices and customer collections.
- Manage Customer Direct Debit payments.
- Oversee VAT returns, TAX & NI payments and month-end reporting.
- Online banking payments as requested by senior management.
- Support audits and provide financial data to external accountants.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
- Prepare and update records in readiness for following processing month.
- Process payroll for office staff and maintain holiday/absence records.
About You
- Proven experience in an Accounts Manager or similar finance role.
- Strong knowledge of VAT, payroll, and financial reporting.
- Proficient in accounting systems (Opera experience desirable).
- Highly organised, methodical and able to work under pressure.
- Strong communication skills to liaise with managers, subcontractors, and auditors.
